As part of its ongoing efforts to reduce diseases that cause visual impairment, the Merciful Hearts International Association launched a humanitarian medical initiative entitled “Blindness Prevention Project” in Bniami Village, Niger, in October 2025, in collaboration with the National Relief and Literacy Association.

The project aimed to combat blindness by performing 250 free surgical operations, targeting the poor, widows, the elderly, children, and women from the village and surrounding areas, who suffer from vision loss due to an inability to afford treatment.

The surgeries were carried out by a specialized medical team in a fully equipped medical environment, with careful monitoring of patients before and after the procedures to ensure successful outcomes and stable vision.
The project resulted in restoring sight to 250 beneficiaries, positively impacting their daily lives, work, and ability to engage in normal activities.

The Merciful Hearts International Association reaffirms its commitment to continuing the implementation of health and humanitarian projects in Africa, especially in the most impoverished and vulnerable areas, in line with its mission to spread compassion and restore hope and light to the lives of those in need.
