This hospital is one of the most important projects of the International Pitying Hearts Society / IPHS in the areas under the control of the opposition in Syria.
Ibn Al-Haytham Surgical Hospital is located in the northern countryside of Idlib, and it is considered the first and the largest hospital in the areas under the control of the opposition in the field of eye surgery.
The hospital was opened in difficult conditions on 15/03/2013 in time all the areas under the control of the opposition in Syria were in a desperate need to this specialization because of its rarity and the high cost of treatment in this specialization, where most people were not able to pay for this type of operations or even consultations.
The project consists of a two-storey building containing a reception, a visual acuity test clinic, two ophthalmic diseases clinic, an operating suite that consists of two operating theaters and a lobby, a patients’ pavilion, and a pavilion for the staff. That, besides many other things, makes this hospital as one of the leading medical projects in the areas under the control of the opposition in Syria.
However, Ibn Al-Haytham Surgical Hospital was designed to provide free medical services specialized in ophthalmic diseases in a geographical area crowded with a large population. This project is of great importance being based in its existence on saving the eyesight of a lot of vulnerable people threatened to lose sight, in addition to easing the financial burden required by this specialization.
Ibn Al-Haytham Surgical Hospital provides important medical services containing:

– Assessing and treating hot ophthalmic injuries
– Hot and cold eye surgical operations
– Free medications
This hospital is the first ophthalmic surgical hospital and it provides many types of surgeries like cataract operations, laser operations, eyelids operations, and many other operations.
Ibn Al-Haytham Surgical Hospital provides services to a large segment of the population; monthly the hospital work statistics are about 2500 consultations and about 400 operations.
